IS YOUR AIR CONDITIONER READY FOR CHRISTMAS?

The Bureau of Meteorology predicts a Christmas Day of 27°C with 66% humidity in Sydney this year. Rain meant to be drenching our state has “disappeared without a trace!” But, of course, that’s not accounting for the oven working overtime in the kitchen to prepare Christmas lunch for friends and family. The last thing you want is your air conditioner breaking down just when you’ve pulled out the Christmas ham. So, it’s important to make sure you are prepared.

Prevention

The best way to avoid having any problems with your air conditioning is booking in a service to maintain the integrity of your system. We highly recommend servicing your system at least annually to get maximum comfort and reliability. A well-maintained system can last many years.

You can clean your system yourself with the tips in our article TAKING CARE OF YOUR AIR CONDITIONER or contact us and request a maintenance service on your air conditioning here.

Tips for Christmas day

Celebrating with your family on Christmas day is a special event; you don’t want that ruined by the heat. So, if you’re planning to celebrate in the comfort of your home, here are the best ways to counteract the heat:

  1. Turning on your air conditioner bright and early (6-7am). This helps your system, so it doesn’t have to strain to reach your desired temperature and doesn’t have to battle the midday heat.
  2. Concentrate the air conditioning in the zoned areas your guests will spend most of their time, not the bedrooms.
  3. KEEP YOUR AIR CONDITIONER SET AT 22-24°
  4. Take some time to clean your air conditioning unit in the lead-up to Christmas. Read our article on tips to clean your unit. {Link to article}
  5. Book a service with the Advanced Air Conditioning team after Christmas for maintenance on your system.

If you have a matter of urgency, you can contact our team 24/7 at 02 9834 4140 or email us at service@advancedonline.com.au.

Severe weather

Severe storms and the summer season go hand in hand. As with any electrical system or device, we recommend you turn off your air conditioning in the event of a lightning storm. That way, if your home is struck by lightning, your system won’t get damaged by a power surge.
