- Air conditioner ownership in Australia has doubled since the late 1990s.
- Most homes were not air conditioned in the 1930s but movie theatres were. During the hot summer months, customers went to the movies to escape the heat which prompted studios to release their biggest block busters during summer. Even today, the biggest movies are released on boxing day.
